An exhibition along National Tourist Routes in Norway
Om denne utstillingen sier Sam Foley: "Kjernen i dette arbeidet er min tid i Norge og naturen langs Nasjonale turistveger Sognefjellet, Gamle Strynefjellsvegen og Geiranger – Trollstigen. www.nasjonaleturistveger.no
Jeg var basert hovedsakelig i Lom i hjertet av Jotunheimen. Temaet i serien strekker seg fra Solvorn i Sognefjorden, over Sognefjellet og Jotunheimen Nasjonalpark og opp til Geirangerfjorden og Trollstigen. Jeg var der over sommeren 2011, hvor synet og lyden av rennende vann var det samlende tema for disse landskapene. Bevegelige bilder, og hvordan de to mediene maleri og digital projeksjon kan kombineres, interesserer meg: Å lage "bevegelige malerier" som skifter og endrer seg ved hjelp av lys og tekstur på en kompleks måte - en etterligning av en etterligning som fortsatt beholder integriteten av tid og sted. Det beveger seg med motivet og skaper minner."
Med base i New Zealand, stiller Foley ut internasjonalt, med verk plassert i en rekke offentlige og private samlinger. I løpet av det siste tiåret har han vært mye til og fra vår del av verden, med utgangspunkt i Berlin og med utstillinger i hele Europa. I 2013 var han mottaker av Kaipara Foundation Wallace Arts Trust Award, som inkluderte en 4 måneders opphold ved kulturhuset Altes Spital, i Solothurn, Sveits.

This subject of this series extends from Solvorn in Sognefjord, across the Sognefjell Mountain Road and Jotunheimen National Park and up to Geirangerfjord and Trollstigen Plateau. I was there over summer 2011, where the visibilty and sound of running water was the unifying theme of these landscapes. Most recently, moving image and how the two mediums of painting and digital projection can be combined in to a singular medium has been a focus. Creating ‘Moving Image Paintings’ which shift and change, using light and texture in a complex way, a simulacrum of a simulacrum which still retains the integrity of time and place. It moves with incident and creates memory."
Based in New Zealand, Foley exhibits internationally, with works placed in a number of public and private collections. Over the last decade he has been a regular visitor to Europe, basing himself in Berlin and exhibiting throughout Europe, and Scandinavia. In
2013 he was the recipient of the Kaipara Foundation Wallace Arts Trust Award, which included a 4 month residency at the cultural centre Altes Spital, in Solothurn, Switzerland.
